The magazine covers both domestic and international issues, with sections dedicated to the United States, the Americas, Asia, China, the Middle East and Africa, Europe, and Britain. While The Economist's primary focus is world news, politics, and business the magazine also runs regular sections on science and technology as well as books and the arts.
Approximately every two weeks, the publication includes an in-depth special report on one of these five main categories: Countries and Regions, Business, Finance and Economics, Science and Technology, and Other. Every three months, it publishes a technology report called "Technology Quarterly." Other regular features include: "Face Value," a section about prominent people in the business world; "Free Exchange," a general economics column that is frequently based on academic research; economic statistics, such as employment statistics and other special statistical features; and an obituary. Special annual issues include its "The World in [Year]" publication.
